The Interview:

Question: When and why did you start blogging?

Answer: Well I started blogging about a couple years ago, but none of those projects are still alive today, I would say it’s been about a year that I’m really into it. I started blogging because it was an easy way to keep websites updated and fresh from any computer without needing to have any specific software.

Question: How many websites do you have using WordPress and what they are?

Answer: As of right now, I technically have 6 six sites running WordPress, but they aren’t all updated as I wish they were. Two of them aren’t blogs, they are corporate websites, the other four are blogs, my personal hub/website is JamieNorthrup.com, I have a fan website for my favorite hockey player, which is my longest current blog, MikeGreenFan.com, I have a website dedicated to business cards, which is more of a photo gallery than a blog at BusinessCardCritic.com, and last but not least I have this blog.

Question: Why did you choose WordPress?

Answer: Well in a world where features can be easily standardized amongst different companies and services, what I think is the most important is popularity, and it’s not because it’s cool or because it’s popular opinion. The reason popularity is important is because there are so many themes, plug-ins and most off support for WordPress out there. It is the leader and I think it deserved it, but even if it didn’t, with all the available stuff out there, because of it’s popularity, it is my choice.

Question: How much have you spent on your websites (Ads, Hosting, Themes, Etc) and how much is your approximate revenue?

Answer: I haven’t spent anything at all on marketing yet, but I do plan on having a marketing budget real soon. As for hosting I pay about 40$ a year for one hosting account for all my websites, I have purchased two themes, and spent 45$ on them total. I did also buy a logo for 20$ as I have little to no design skills as of right now, I’m planning on changing that. As I have just started, I don’t have much revenue, I would say maybe 50$ or so a month, I plan on putting it all back into my work, mostly marketing when the time is right.

Question: What kind of advice can you give to anyone using WordPress?

Answer: WordPress can be used for anything and everything, the important thing in the end is to decide what you want to use it for, just because someone tells you something is made for a specific purpose you don’t have to use it that way, and other peoples goals are not yours, you make your own, some do it for fun, some for extra money and some for a living.

Quick Question #1: How many RSS feeds are you subscribed to?

Answer: 72.

Quick Question #2: Free themes, premium themes or your own themes?

Answer: Free & Premium Themes.

Quick Question #3: Do you do most your blogging at home, work, other?

Answer: I blog from anywhere and everywhere.

Question #4: What kind of devices do you blog from?

Answer: I have an HP Desktop at home, a Dell Desktop at work, a Acer Netbook for the road, and my Blackberry Curve 8900 for everywhere else.

Question #5: What is the best way to reach you?

Answer: Well the only way to reach me is on my Blackberry because no matter how you contact me you’ll end up there whether it’s an e-mail, a phone call, a facebook message, a tweet or anything else, everything gets to my Blackberry.
